A Jasper Elementary School nurse saved a fifth grader from choking with the help of LifeVac supplied through a grant from the Dubois County Community Foundation and the efforts of a Jasper Police Officer.
Officer Logan Jones worked with the foundation to provide Life-Vac devices to every school and officer in the county.
Recently, Caitlin Keesler, the school nurse at Jasper Elementary School, utilized the school’s Life-Vac device on a fifth grader choking on a piece of candy.
“Caitlin’s quick thinking and Officer Jones’ initiative to obtain these devices, saved this child. We are proud of Caitlin and Officer Jones, and want to emphasize that every day our officers are doing things behind the scenes, to make our community safer,” said Lt. Dave Burger
