On May 24th, 2024 6 year old David choked on a chicken nugget resulting in a partial obstruction. Protocol was followed but was unsuccessful. LifeVac removed the obstruction on its third use. His mother describes the choking incident as follows:
“My 6 year old started choking and got very scared. He was trying to scream for Mom. I got him to the truck of the SUV and started back blows. He was holding his throat rasping out the words “I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die!” I was having a hard time staying calm. I had my mother on speaker phone as she was trying to calm me down. Grandma grabbed another phone and called Aunt Stacy who is a school secretary around 5 blocks away. Aunt Stacy grabbed the school nurse and off they went asap to get to David. By the time they got there his airway was cleared and the nurse gave him a thorough exam such as checking his throat, breathing, and lungs. I thank God for being there and LifeVac for having the device that saved him today!
All 4 grandchildren home’s has the full unit on top of their fridge. The best gift our parents ever bought for us all! With out LifeVac life could have changed today in a very heartbreaking way. Thank God we were able to get the chicken nugget to move!
The only issue we had with the unit was how nerve racking it was to stay calm enough to properly use the unit while David was so scared and trying to help with grabbing the unit. Which I’m sure is a natural instinct when you have partial blockage and wanting to breathe. We now let David hold the unit and fully explain to him how and what we were doing so if we ever have to use it again he will hopefully remain calmer. I’m so blessed and thankful for having your kits in my car and the full unit on top of my fridge where everyone in my home knows it is to always stay! Thank you for saving my son’s life”
